Went to Meon to meet up with Bob and a couple of other guys (Luke and Pete - don't know them so well). Gwyn whimped out moaning about his sore hands and dehydration (?) from yesterday, and no sign of Jo despite her promise to come today. Boring! Probably Jo was relying on Gwyn to give her a lift, and when he decided not to come, that was a good excuse for her. Tsk.

Well they didn't miss all that much. Looked windy when I arrived around 1pm, so rigged the 5.2 despite other people being out on bigger sails. Annoyingly found a small tear in the 5.2 near the clew - sure it wasn't there last time I used it at Hayling - there were some scratch marks near the tear as well so must have scraped it along some Hayling rocks GRRRR. So had to patch it up with some unfortunately conspicuous white Specialised Sailing stickers (all I had).

On the water - was good for the first 20-30 mins- nicely powered up. That Bee+5.2 combo is a real winner in flat/choppy conditions. I was sailing well also, better than yesterday, pulling off pretty much all my gybes, plus my one duck gybe attempt was very clean. Strange after countless failed attempts yesterday, but I suppose conditions were much easier today. Would have gone for lots more if the wind had stayed.....

Which it didn't. Gradually dropped off as the afternoon progressed. Should really have rigged my 6.0 and got out the JP, which probably would have kept me sailing on and off for a lot longer (wind was up and down all afternoon). But couldn't be arsed, and by now the kitesurfers were out in force, taking up far too much space.

Not as good as yesterday wind-wise, but my good performance in the windy period at the start of the session made up for that. For this reason in some ways the session was more satisfying than yesterday, when I really felt I was sailing below-par, but the relatively poor conditions means it only gets 3 stars.
